In the last post I had discussed linear regression with PyTorch. Polynomial regression is a generalization of that where instead of fitting a line to the data, we fit a polynomial curve. In some sense a polynomial regression can be thought of as a special case of a multidimensional linear regression. A multidimensional linear regression is given by \(y = β_0 + β_1 x_1 + ⋯ + β_n x_n\), where the output variable \(y\) is linear in the predictor variables \(x_1, …, x_n\).Linear regression with PyTorch: LBFGS vs Adam

It involves regression with relatively small tabular datasets. The data is produced by computer simulations. Though highly nonlinear there is no noise. I am using shallow (1 – 2 hidden layers) neural networks for this purpose. This is an atypical use of PyTorch.
